Vaughan Nelson was born in Azores, Portugal. Living with a father in the military and an English mother ,Vaughan traveled a lot and was able to see many different places while growing up. His work is inspired by the techniques used by the Aboriginal people of Australia and from patterns in nature. Each piece is created by hand out of stoneware clay, the dots are then applied one by one, then fired in the kiln. Due to this process each piece is uniquely different.
